![]() Why ? Because it looks and feels way more polished. If I were you, I'd go with something like AC, ACC or something else. A new roadmap was pushed out earlier but that includes more upcoming paid DLC, which is absolutely atrocious considering the current state of the sim. ![]() There are so many glitches and bugs that it has and the developers haven't really done anything about it. The old UI sucked, the new one sucks even more. If you are new to the game, get ready to get frustrated. Particularly the track packs.Īnother thing is the UI. In my opinion, DLCs are a must if you want to enjoy anything in there. The way I see it, these guys keep pushing out all these different DLCs without actually fixing/updating the older ones to the current standards. Most of the tracks/mods are DX9 based and they look horrible as if I'm playing something from 2010.Ī few cars and tracks made over to DX11 but that list is too small, specially for those who do not want to drive on those tracks. I'll get downvoted for saying this but be cautious. It took me a couple of hours to figure out what was going on, but after that I've not looked back. You get a whole load more variety than you do in RaceRoom for the same money. So to answer the original question, I think RF2 (especially on sale) is definitely worth a go even with no DLC. I find it far more noticeable that the driving in ACC is so sterile, for example. That said, a few of the base content tracks look nice and they I don't find that I really care once I'm in a race. But the newer tracks, most of which are DLC (sorry OP) look great. And that is true of some of the base content. ![]() There is a lot of talk about things looking old in RF2. The others are fine, but RF2 is really engaging. ![]() The driving model is more satisfying in RF2. To the OP's point, always seems to be at least one series running using entirely free/base content. I find it much more satisfying than ACC public lobbies, for example, which are always GT3 at Monza and maybe Zolder. The competition system means that I always have a new track and car combination to practice in RF2. Personally I find it hard to play ACC end RaceRoom and AMS2 now that I have RF2. It's interesting to see how negative everybody on this thread is about RF2. ![]()
